2016 Fall Events

Summer is almost over, but that doesn't mean the fae fun is finished! In 2016, there is a Radical Faerie event in or near Ontario every month.

Past (Summer) Events:

The 29th annual High Summer Gathering at the end of July, especially the High Tea, was certainly a high time for many of the fae folk!

The Canadian Consulate was popular as ever, as was Canada night, at the Blue Heron Gathering in late August.

And a number of faeries got a real treat when we attended ToTo Too Theatre's production of Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song Trilogy in early September - fantastic!

Upcoming (Fall) Events:

Thanksgiving Gathering
Friday October 7 - Monday October 10
The Land aka Amber Fox

Imagine the Land in Technicolor! Seventy-five acres of rolling hills and valleys, painted with the brilliant fall colours of maple, larch, oak and elm. And best of all ... no mosquitos!!!

If you have been to a gathering on the Land aka Amber Fox before, you will know what fun to expect! If you are new, you might want to check out some memories from past Thanksgiving Gatherings.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can join in the discussion and planning in the Facebook Event.

This event is for gay and queer men.

LumBearJack Work Weekend
Friday November 11 - Sunday November 13
The Land aka Amber Fox

Okay bears and lumberjacks, are you ready to fell one last tree and cuddle one last cub before winter sets in? The gathering season is over, but you can join your fae brethren once more this year on the Land aka AmBearFox.

Why is this called a "Work Weekend" not a "Gathering" or "Gatherette"?

  • Usually, everyone is expected to help with a few chores each day. This being a work weekend, everyone who attends should plan on spending a chunk of the daylight hours working on major projects.
  • At a gathering, the suggested purse contribution is $25 per night. For LumBearJack, the suggestion is $10 per night.
  • Meat. Yep, meat! This is the one official Amber Fox event where the Erection will be filled with the scents of bacon and brisket, the squeals of the soon-to-be-supper, and the sparkling crimson jet of the severed carotid.

You can find out more by reading about past LumBearJack Work Weekends.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can join in the discussion and planning in the Facebook Event.

This event is for gay and queer men.

A Very Faerie Solstice Party
Saturday December 17 from 6 - 11pm
at the Alien Embassy, Toronto

Join your fae friends one more time this year for snacks, drinks, entertainment and fellowship. This year's party will be hosted by the boys at the Alien Embassy, in its new location on Spruce Street near Carlton & Parliament in Toronto.

If you need the address or would like to arrange billeting for out-of-towners, please email Boy Ricky.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can join in the discussion and planning in the Facebook Event.

2016 Summer Events

In 2016, there is a Radical Faerie event in or near Ontario, EVERY SINGLE MONTH! Here's what we did the second quarter, and a preview of the next quarter's activities. Please join us - all those of fae heart and the fae curious (regardless of gender) are welcome at these events, except for the High Summer Gathering*, which is for gay and queer men.

Past (Spring) Events:

Reflections of Beltane
In April, the Glo'Tel in Toronto hosted a Through the Looking Glass Beltane Potluck. Verses were recited, croquet was played, libations were downed, and friendships were (re)kindled!

In May, the Beltane season festivities continued with our first gathering of the year, celebrating Victoria Day with the raising of the may pole on the Land aka Amber Fox.

And in just a few days (I am writing this the last week of June), our ever-so-slightly-belated June event will be a BBQ potluck picnic on Toronto Islands for Canada Day (Friday July 1st), with a bonfire and fireworks - join us if you can!!!

Upcoming (Summer) Events:

29th Annual High Summer Gathering*
Wednesday July 27th to Monday August 1st
on the Land aka Amber Fox

Once again it is nearly time for our largest annual event, the High Summer Gathering. Lazy summer days, maybe a trip for a dip in the Mighty Mississip', fabulous food, fun & fellowship, and of course, those hot summer nights! And if past gatherings have taught us anything, the high light of High Summer is the infamous High Tea. Don't miss it!

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can join in the discussion and planning on our Facebook Event.

* This event is for gay and queer men.

Blue Heron Gathering
The last week of August
at Blue Heron Farm in upstate New York

The week leading up to Labour Day weekend, we join our fae friends for their annual gathering at Blue Heron Farm in upstate New York. But don't make fun of them because they spell "labour" wrong! ;)

Torch Song Faeries
Saturday September 10th, 7 pm
at Academic Hall, University of Ottawa

Once again the fae folk will be going on a theatre outing to view another queer classic from the folks at TotoToo Theatre Company: and this time it is Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song Trilogy! Based on the stunning calibre of ToTo Too's previous work, this show a) will be fabulous and b) may contain nudity. Get your tickets for September 10th in advance (you can order them online) and meet us at Academic Hall at 7pm.

So don't skimp on the summer shenanigans!
Find festive frivolity with the Faeries!!!

Beach Blanket Babylon, BBQ & Fireworks

Canada Day

Beach Blanket Babylon,

BBQ & Fireworks

Friday July 1, 10:00 am - 10:00 pm
on Olympic Island, Toronto

HI All!!

Canada Day is almost upon us!!  Come join the Faeries for a fun-filled excursion to the Toronto Islands for boating, nude beaches, barbecues, and fireworks!!

A picnic spot has been reserved on Olympic island for all of Canada Day! The site has both a barbecue and a fire-pit!! It's a short walk to Hanlan's Point for afternoon skinny dipping and it will have a great view for the fireworks in the evening!!! The site is perfect cause it's also right next to everything like the washrooms, snack bar, and cocktail bar too!!

Someone will be at the picnic site all day from 10:00am to 11:00pm!! People will be doing an afternoon trip to Hanlan's point but there will always be someone at the site so show up there at any time!!  Everyone will be coming back from all parts of the islands for a potluck BBQ supper which will start at 6:00pm. After, we're going to do a fabulous and festive bonfire with DeeDee's magic colourful fire sticks!!  Lastly, the fireworks will go off over the city - 10pm at Ashbridges Bay, and 10:40 at Harbourfront, directly across the harbour from our picnic site!!! Then, all us Faeries will take the ferry back to the city (last one at 11:45)!!!

Also, please make note of the rules the City of Toronto requires us to follow when using the picnic site.

Click above to see the legend or print the map

Our picnic site (C on the map above) is
  • 1 minute walk to the washrooms (D)
  • 2 minutes to the snack and cocktail bars (F)
  • 3 minutes to the Centre Island Ferry Dock (E)
  • 25 minutes to Hanlon's Point nude beach (H)
Come and spend the whole day on the islands or simply join us for the cook out around 6:00pm. Don't forget to bring a dish to share!! We can use the barbecue so remember that when choosing your dish! We'll stay after for a bonfire and fireworks too!!

Also, if you can pitch in for the cost of the site rental, that would be great!! The suggested contribution is $10 (more if you can, less if you cannot).

Here are three suggested plans for your day. They all start from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal (B) at Queens Quay, Toronto:

1. The Beaver Plan
  • Take the ferry to the Centre Island Ferry Dock (E)

However you decide to spend the day on the islands with your Fae friends, we look forward to seeing you for the festive and fun feast and fireworks!!

P.S.: I know this is actually in July, but it's only by one day so I think it's fine to count it as the June event!!! Remember, Faerie time is flexible! HUGS!!! ;)

And don't forget that it is Pride Week here in Toronto!!  On Sunday, the Radical Faeries have been invited to march in the parade with the Toronto Sisters of JOY.  Their them is Sacred Whores of the Well Hung Gardens of Babylon - We had such a great time marching two years ago in World Pride and going with the Sisters this year should be super-fun too!!!

Through the Looking Glass: Beltane Potluck

On Beltane, we hosted a potluck! About twenty fae folks of all genders danced and chattered in the garden of Goldenrod, Grey, and claro's home. There were fabulous costumes: there were two red queens slumming it with the likes of carpenters and hobos, and a serenade by the Mock Turtle himself! The food was grand, including lentil burgers and sweet penis fudge. The Queen of Diamonds smashed their watch at 6PM to celebrate a personal victory. Slowly the garden filled with looking glasses, marking the time... After a late start, some lingered until it was too late to remember the hour.

"Well, now that we have seen each other," said the unicorn, "if you'll believe in me, I'll believe in you."

'"What matters it how far we go?" his scaly friend replied.
"There is another shore, you know, upon the other side.
The further off from England the nearer is to France—
Then turn not pale, beloved snail, but come and join the dance.
Will you, won't you, will you, won't you,
will you join the
         dance?
Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, won't you join the
         dance?"'

“Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

“Be what you would seem to be - or, if you'd like it put more simply - never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.”

Victoria Day Gathering 2016

Victoria Day Gathering

Friday May 20th to Monday May 23rd
on The Land aka Amber Fox

It's almost that time folks. The one and only Victoria Day Gathering is fast upon us.

This year we plan a Beltane May Pole rising and the Heart Circle has delivered a fabulous cherry tree that came down this winter so we can raise it up in Beltanish Victorian manner.

We should expect great food of the vegetarian bent, prepared by many of the fairest faeries to grace the Land. That would be you, or maybe you're into the chopping and dicing and grating and mixing, cleaning or dishes. We prepare our meals in community, that means we all get to participate.

There will be a Know-Talent show on Saturday night. That's the only scheduled thing. Come Friday and we can decide on when to raise the May Pole. To have a big celebratory fire.

Join a heart circle, help with a project, plan an activity and or simply enjoy the company of fae spirits.

We hope also to have a salad one evening of all that is tasty and forageable on the Land.

The sauna is being warmed up for you, the Departure Lounge awaits your energy, the Foxy Boutique has been updated with some new cladding for your body.

You bring the energy and happy spirits will rise as the Land wakens another year.

Some can spend the night in the Bunkhouse on a first come basis, you can also sleep in the Departure Lounge but do know that the lounge goes late into the evening.

Bring a tent or plan to share one, something to sleep on, some warm clothes and your Foxy outfits, prepare for rain and cold, and if it's sunny and warm you'll be thrilled.

All meals are vegetarian and prepared collectively and funded by the purse. We ask people to contribute $25 a day, more if you can, less if you can't.  No one turned away for lack of funds.

If you need directions get a hold of boy ricky, that's me. We are located near Perth Ontario. If you let us know, we can pick you up at the bus station in Perth or the train station in Smith Falls.

Hope to see you all as we begin another year on the Land.
